The Story

The Voyage of Pélican : sailing from France to Polynesia.

Pélican was born from our family's dream: Audrey, Nicolas, and our two sons, Noah and Léo. Delivered brand new in Les Sables‑d'Olonne in June 2025, she has known only one crew at the helm — ours. No one else has ever sailed Pélican: we know every corner, every setting, every hour at sea.

Together, we made our dream of a long-distance voyage to French Polynesia come true, where Pélican proved to be the perfect boat — for exploring lagoons, reaching the most isolated anchorages, and enjoying the warmth of the Polynesian people.

Today, this adventure is pushing us to make room for another one: helping other people fulfil their own dream, in turn — by guiding them, and by passing Pélican on.

We're not selling a boat. We're passing on a project.

Nicolas

The captain who thought of everything

At the helm of Pélican, Nicolas is the captain. Endlessly curious, he has a knack for finding a solution to every problem — a quality that proved invaluable throughout the boat's preparation and life on board.

A professional pilot, he first flew in extreme environments as a Canadair pilot for France's Civil Security service, before sharpening his approach to safety management even further at Air France, where he is a pilot and instructor on long-haul aircraft. Rigorous and a perfectionist, he brings that same seriousness to every aspect of the boat — technical, navigation, safety.

That same appetite for disciplines that demand preparation and composure shows up off the clock too: a level‑3 certified diver, he loves exploring what lies beneath the surface; a triathlete, he enjoys challenges built over time.

It's this taste for adventure, travel and freedom that pushed him to take on this project — and to bring his whole family along.

First Mate

Audrey

A taste for exploration

On board Pélican, Audrey is the first mate. An emergency physician, she has worked in settings as varied as Civil Security helicopters, the Marseille Marine Firefighters battalion, and aerospace medicine with Novespace — fields that took her far beyond the doctor's office.

She brought that same appetite for new environments on board. A diver, freediver, and private plane and glider pilot, Audrey loves discovering new worlds, whether underwater, in the air, or out at sea. An endurance athlete, she has also taken on marathons and triathlons, with that same taste for challenges worth earning.

On board Pélican, she lived a long-distance adventure, between far-flung stopovers and long passages, always eager to discover what lay beyond the next horizon.

Pélican wasn't simply lived aboard: she was designed, prepared and sailed by a crew accustomed to demanding environments — and that's the legacy we want to pass on to her next crew.

Pélican is an Excess 14, the catamaran brand from Groupe Bénéteau, known for sailing performance and the sheer pleasure of the helm. Not a heavy boat : a real sailboat, built to sail.

The sole Bénéteau dealer in French Polynesia, Sail Tahiti has followed Pélican since she was bought and handles her after-sales service. They're also the organiser of the Pacific Puddle Jump, the leading transpacific rally — a serious local presence, not a passing mechanic.

The Boat

Pélican, an Excess 14.

Launched in June 2025 in Owner's version — three cabins, plus a dressing room that converts into two extra berths — of which we were the sole owners. A clever layout, built for living aboard as a family.

She's a catamaran that delivers real sensations at the helm, while keeping real comfort on board. With a generous sail area, she's a true sailboat — not a boat that needs her engine running all the time.

We lived aboard for a full year, covered 14,000 nautical miles, and the boat has only 225 engine hours : proof that we sailed almost exclusively under canvas. Fully equipped for self-sufficiency, she can do without marinas almost entirely, and burns very little fuel.

Pélican completes her passage on site in summer 2027. For sale or long-term charter: two ways to take the helm right where we leave off — at the heart of the Polynesian lagoons.

Pélican changes crew. The boat, her upkeep and her sailing history come to you in full.

Option 2 Long-Term Charter

Live French Polynesia aboard Pélican for a season, without the responsibilities of ownership.
